Israeli information on Wikipedia
So what is the best place to convince people? I think it's Wikipedia. And so this should be our strongest advocacy arena.
The place where people come who are open to being convinced
Wikipedia is the place to go to understand more in depth. To get more balanced information that has been checked and not refuted. In other words, the place you go to really understand things.
And so with all the importance of propaganda actions in social networks and mainstream media - Wikipedia gives the most effective power in persuasion. Even the experts will often go to Wikipedia to check things out, so this is our way of reaching journalists, politicians and leaders.
How do you advertise on Wikipedia? with the help of proven facts
In Wikipedia it is not possible to play by throwing unsupported claims. Every fact you state needs a reliable source behind it. Therefore, we have a built-in and large advantage over Hamas, whose publications are not considered a backed-up source.
The price of testing and facts
In the early days of Wikipedia almost any fact could go in, and it would take time for the wrong facts to come out.
Over the years, the Wikipedia community operates a huge community of volunteer editors who critically check every post and every edit that goes up. They look for political biases, commercial advertisements not to mention lies and slander - and download them without thinking twice. In fact, there is currently criticism of Wikipedia for not adding enough new content...
The bad news is that you'll need to gain some experience and knowledge – and some scars from your insultingly deleted posts – to start posting widely. Don't take it hard. Just listen, learn and do what you are told.
The most important thing is to update in foreign languages
speak a foreign language? Urgently enter the Wikipedia entries of the war in your language and update the Hamas massacre. Also enter entries on 'Hamas', 'Gaza', the separation fence, etc. Do not currently invest in 'our' values ('Israel', 'Sderot', 'Ofakim', etc.). Whoever gets there is already in our favor.
Of course the most important language is English - but if you speak another language it is much more urgent that you edit in that language. There are a million pro-Israel editors in English and Spanish. There are fewer editors in Armenian, Swedish, Bulgarian or Italian.
And the most important languages? Arabic and Russian.
How to begin?
