You have seen reporters and commentators, irresponsible, come forward and announce my guilt without fully checking what their journalistic duty was - to conduct an investigation and investigation. You have seen testimonies and witnesses that drip every evening, a poisonous drip. You couldn't think otherwise. I don't know anyone who could have survived this difficult time. I survived because I know the truth, I survived because the truth is at my right and by my side.

In this court of the media there is no need for evidence, no need for proof, no need for facts. In this court of the Israeli media, the claim of only one side is enough, this public trial of the media ended a long time ago, the verdict was given, the sentence was carried out. In this court I was convicted, I was denied the possibility to defend myself, my honor and my rights. My fate was decided even before I uttered a single word, before I and my attorneys had the opportunity to meet with the Attorney General and tell him our version and our truth.

None of you have seen a single piece of evidence or a single testimony and I inform you, there is no evidence, no proof of the harsh claims that are being made against me. The pressure of the media every day was too much to bear.

I invited the Attorney General here and reported to him the suspicion of extortion. I handed him a detailed document that includes about 45 sections and it was not examined by any jurist. I did not agree to say a single word and even when I agreed to give an interview to Nahum Barnea and Shimon Shifer, I did not agree to give details from the investigation, I told about my difficult feelings, but I did not give details from the investigation. Following that meeting with the Attorney General, I was asked by the media to respond, only Gila and I knew about this meeting with the Attorney General, and it was leaked to the media.

I had another reason, I really believed there would be an undercover investigation. If I go and confirm the content of the meeting, those involved in the affair might run and cover up traces, let alone evidence, and I don't want to be accused of obstructing an investigation. I remembered the police, how years ago they attacked a public figure. Why before he went to inform the authorities, he appeared in the media and announced that he was blackmailed, and then you accused him of obstructing an investigation. I preferred to make it easier for the police so that they would get to the truth, than to win a few more positive headlines in the media and for this reason I also preferred to fill my mouth with water and remain silent.

This message, by the attorney general, to the media, put me in an impossible situation and the press and the media demanded that I tell the truth. If an even partial gag order had been imposed at the beginning of the affair or if the affair had been shrouded in obscurity at the beginning, at least for a period of time, I believe the investigation would have been effective and the truth could have been reached.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have never had a police complaint filed against me, not even 12 women, not even one woman, filed a police complaint against me. The police followed the media. The media out of hostility, out of uncontrollable zeal, the police, went thirty years backwards, went to every girl who worked with me for 35 years, interrogated them. A respected Knesset member, not from the right, says just a few days ago that a friend of hers, I don't know who she is, told her that the police invited her and asked her if she was ever raped by the president?
