This speech was presented as part of 'Hyde Park' on the state of the legal system in Israel The Public Debate Club

In the public debate, the participants presented positions that touched on the justice system and its limitations - legal and economic issues such as the level of punishment, the working hours of judges, and how these issues affect the feelings of security of all of us as citizens of the country.

Below is a summary of the positions presented as agreed upon during the discussion.

Diana - the history of organized crime
Until 1967 there was no organized crime in Israel, but with the opening of the border to Israel and the strong introduction of television, people and criminals learned to organize themselves in groups. Organized crime members maintain secrecy with a separation between legal and illegal activities.
Mark C. - Priorities in the treatment of crime
The order of priorities should also be in the fight against crime. It is true that every crime must be fought, but resources must be allocated wisely and carefully.
Excessive judicial activism
I will talk today about three problems in the rule of law: judicial activism, limitations, crime families.
Mark A. - Corruption in the police
The crime can be classified into 'ordinary' offenses such as property, organized crime and theft, and the second type is economic offenses and the third is corruption - public but not only.
Yan - consumer protection laws
My arguments are, first of all, raising awareness of the manipulations carried out by companies, and the second is ways of dealing with injustices and ways of fighting to restore justice.
Yossi - capital and power

I want to talk to you about leadership - what it means to me, and about the lack of leadership in Israel
Vladimir - the fear of corruption is exaggerated
I will talk about the independence and robustness of the law enforcement system, and I will show that we are a reformed country with an independent law enforcement system that has been strengthened and not weakened recently.
Eyal - how to fight organized crime
Eyal - I'm going to talk about ways to improve the courts, and in the process talk about service to the citizen. I will talk about two things - shortening trial times and minimum sentences. Vladimir will talk about adding standards and evening shifts, and limiting plea deals.
Diana Vian - How to fight corruption
It is clear to us that education is the most basic thing, perhaps after home and family. Schools impart values and this means that the rules of conduct need to be changed and educated in positive directions such as respecting others and behaving nicely to a friend. Also respect for the teacher and parent.
Mark C and Mark A - how to improve the legal system
Our group will talk about solutions to prevent public corruption, which are the separation of authorities which is not good enough today, increasing the penalties for corruption of public figures and handling capital-government relations.

About the public debate club

As part of the club, a monthly 'Hyde Park' is held, that is, an open public discussion on a topical issue, in which each participant presents his positions in a limited time, and receives feedback from the other participants and the moderator Guy Yariv. The goal of the club is to improve public discourse and allow for in-depth discussion of controversial issues while learning rhetoric and improving speech and persuasion skills.
The club is open to the public and includes support for participants who suffer afraid of what Or they have no experience in public speaking.
