Lectures for organizations
Lectures for organizations, especially on public speaking skills, have become a popular topic in recent years. In the modern work world, the ability to present and communicate effectively in front of an audience is an important tool that allows employees, managers and entrepreneurs to convey their messages in a clear, convincing and impactful manner. However, for many, the thought of standing in front of an audience creates deep fear and anxiety - known as "stage fright". In order to face this challenge, it is important to learn not only the tools for speaking in front of an audience, but also how to deal with stage fright and how to use it as a lever for success. These tools are taught as part of lectures for managers and organizations.
Fear of what - what is it and why does it appear?
Stage fright (or social anxiety) is a very common feeling that includes feelings of pressure, anxiety and sometimes even paralysis, when the person is required to speak in front of an audience. These feelings may be expressed in physiological symptoms such as sweating, rapid pulse, dry mouth and sometimes even a feeling of suffocation. It is important to understand that stage fright is not a "problem" but a natural response of the body to a situation where it feels threatened or under pressure. The reason for stage fright is often a perception of the stage as something threatening, in which the audience examines the person performing directly. Our brains have difficulty separating social pressure from survival pressure, which causes the appearance of physiological responses appropriate to dangerous situations. In addition, there are personal factors that increase the feeling - past experiences of failure, fear of judgment from the audience, or a feeling of insecurity in being able to convey the message accurately.
How do you deal with stage fright?
The way to overcome stage fright is not necessarily to try to make it disappear completely, but to learn how to deal with it and turn it into a powerful tool. Here are some techniques that are offered as part of lectures for organizations at the public speaking school:
Advance preparation and proper planning - one of the main ways to reduce anxiety is advance preparation and planning the lecture or presentation in detail. Good preparation includes not only an in-depth understanding of the subject, but also planning the target audience - what are their interests? What value can be given to it? The better the speaker knows the material and the audience, the more confident he will feel.
Practice, practice and practice again - one of the most important means of dealing with stage fright is lots of practice. The more the person practices the lecture in front of friends, family, or even in front of a mirror, the more comfortable he will feel in the real situation. Practice also helps to develop a clear routine, which reduces uncertainty and allows you to cope with stress better.
Focusing on the message and not on yourself - one of the problems that causes fear of what is focusing on myself - how do I look? What will they think of me? Do I manage to please the audience? In lectures on speaking skills, you are taught to focus on the message itself and its importance for the audience. When the emphasis shifts from the person himself to the content, it is easier to overcome the feeling of "the stage is intimidating".
